After getting a special look at LucasArts' latest Star Wars game, Destructoid reports that it features two new technologies.

First up is a system called DMM, which is short for Digital Molecular Matter. DMM tells the console specific details about each and every object in the game, relating to mass, density, and various other technical hoo-has. With this information, calculations are performed when interacting with an object that instantaneously effects what happens in the game instead of calling a canned animation. So, say you're using the force to bash in a door. The impact and effect on the door will be different every time, based on what the door is made of, where you hit it, how hard you hit it and your distance from it.

The second system in place is called Euphoria. Euphoria seems to be an advanced form of AI for characters in the game. Through the use of Euphoria, characters will take action based on what's happening around them. All hell breaking loose? They may run, or take cover. Being drug around by the force? They'll try to grab on to anything they can. In a firefight? You'll see them dodge shots and return fire.

With these two systems in place in the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game, players will enjoy a very realistic and unique experience in the game.

Oh, and Dtoid also adds that the graphics are "a sight to behold".

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed should hit various consoles by this coming summer.

I'm pretty excited every time I see news about new technologies like this coming out in a game; I always swell with ideas about how cool they could be and fun the game will be. That being said, I'm usually disappointed when I finally play the game, because it always seems like other factors in the game are just plain wrong, like they spent too much time on the new technologies and forgot to do the simple things right.

Of course I wouldn't give up the chance to play this game, anyway, just for the simple fact of admiring the technology behind it. I'm pretty interested in the development and such of games, so new technologies to play with are always fun to study.

Here's to hoping that they 'did it right', and are making an awesome game!
